Product Colours and Consistency
Our customers often ask us questions like;
The answers to all of the above questions is the same!
Single Colour Products
Single Colour products are printed with a single colour filament, if our usual supplier is out of stock we will have to source the filament from an alternate supplier. We do try to colour match as closely as possible but the exact colour of the filament from an alternate supplier or filaments from various alternate suppliers is invariably not identical.
Multi Colour Products
This is where things get interesting! In many of our products we use multi colour filaments or colour changing filaments where the the filament changes colour along the length of the filaments. This picture is an example of a colour changing filament that we use to print the body our Rocket Ship Fidget Toy. If we were to print this product from this filament roll shown in the picture the bottom (first layers) would be green in colour and then would transition to brown as the filament was printed onto the product and then to the next colour and the next colour etc etc.

The fins and tip are printed in a red filament, the inner in silver with the body being printed using the filament above. The window is printed in a transparent filament and window frame a black filament. The rocket body is printed in one piece. As you can see from the picture with the 3 examples of our fidget toy you would believe looking at the picture that each of the 3 rockets was printed with a different filament because of the variation of colours between the main bodies on each of the rockets. This is not the case and as all 3 rocket ships were printed from the exact same role of filament.
This means that there will almost always be variation to the colours on any 3D printed product, especially on the products that use a colour changing filament. On the flip (and plus) side, it also means that every product that uses these filaments will be unique.
